What a mistake that was! Once you overdraft available funds from the reserveline are used to cover the amount over drafted as well as the overdraft fees. When it got too out of hand I was forced to move back to New Hampshire. Of course now I still have to pay off that reserve line which I used to be able to review online the balance and amounts owed per month including interest. Well now that I closed both checking and savings accounts I can no longer check the reserve line balance online. There are no USBanks where I now reside. Customer service informed me that I would receive a bill every month to pay off the reserve line but I have not seen one bill for the month of September which is due the 2nd. I get the idea they will send the bill late so that they can charge me late fees next!

I will be collecting information and putting it in one place that is extremely accessible so we can all share our horror stories and get organzied. There is way too many complaints out here on the net. Perhaps whoever has this site could contact me and we can do it right here. If not, I will start my own, and I ASSURE you..no one in this country of free speech will shut it down like some of the others about US Bank. THANKS!

re: worse than a peeve

I will keep this brief. I had a postive account balance. I was charged overdraft fees illegally. I am pursuing a class action. I am currently in the stage of locating others that have had this same problem. Anyone that has been charged an overdraft fee on a positive account balance, please contact me at jeb0674@yahoo.com. They have ignored my letters and such, now its time to get serious. I am NOT afraid of a corporation. If anyone has had this problem, or has heard, well you had outstanind debit card charges...its bullshit...until the debit card charges ARE POSTED to your account, that money in the account is yours. NO AND'S IF'S or BUT's. US Bank is not fortune tellers, but they do appear to be getting into the loan sharking business. LET me hear from you people. They owe me some money, and I am sure they owe you some too.

things that start with the idea

list of random current events / thoughts

re: worse than a peeve

thanks for that link, good information there (although, as with so many websites, i wish they would arrange a linear navigation path through the material).

it's a sad situation, and we're only going to get screwed-er.

i can see how the bank could probably justify the practice i wrote about by claiming that an unsecured loan had been provided, and therefor it could take such actions. but i had no expectations of such - i had a _checking_ account, and had full expectation that the bank would not provide funds that were not there. is that debt theft (by them)?

so i wonder what a practical personal solution is to this increasing banking and credit crisis. we can't depend on laws, and operating strictly with cash is nearly impossible now. wow, what a mess.

i wonder if the big institutions will accept that minimum amount of regulation that will maintain their "fishery".

so sad.

re: worse than a peeve

I feel your pain dude. I've gotten the same runaround with Ford. They use to be concerned about quality and I remembered how they use to back up their cars. But no more, once it leaves their lot, good luck and don't call us. Assholes. Don't buy a Ford!
I watched Frontline the other night, the Secret History of the Credit Card. (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/credit/). Whatever you do, be sure to pay off your credit card in full. Those jerks are getting as bad as cheap loan sharks these days. Unbelievable how they can nail you with charges, fees and penalties. The way I look at it, it's the price of getting short term credit with no questions asked. Plus it's noteworthy how big banks have purchased laws in Congress. Bastards.
