via @fractalnavel: in the last 24 hours:
  • 2009.04.23 21:50: front yard work done; shopping done; laundry done; avatar fixed; still lots to do
  • 2009.04.23 21:53: @craigg75
one thing that would make twitter much better is turning off retweeting or being able to respond to other tweets
re replies: it already does that; use the little arrow icon to the right of any update - hover first.

one thing that would make twitter much better is turning off retweeting or being able to respond to other tweets
re RTs: you mean all those fancy client apps, and not one of them has filters you can set ?
  • 2009.04.23 21:56: @craigg75
it's turned into just a hobbled chat client where everyone can read just one side of the chats
again, none of the client apps handle reply threads ? i just use tumblr, which has optional twitter integration, does threads ok

    @fractalnavel
minor peeve: website that only show three comments per 'page' - especially when they tend to accumulate hundreds
Yep those sites are usually newspapers who have this warped mindset that info must be "paged" .. hello? it's a computer screen
not the kind of paging i meant there needs to be some sort of dataset paging, just not so restrictive

ha! the Pirate Bay judgment may end up being a mistrial now.. TPB story is better than any reality show
helps to post a link ;-)
  • 2009.04.23 21:59: this has been "hammer on @craigg75 hour", brought to you by yours truly ;-)
  • 2009.04.23 22:00: @craigg75
@fractalnavel you're missing the point, twitter should have been designed to NOT allow this chit chat that people have on it
there's a platonic ideal for twitter that it's not living up to ?
  • 2009.04.23 22:01: glasses to fix; dentist tomorrow; sprang for one of those whitener systems - for $45 ! - ugh. now - do i want to tackle the back yard yet ?
  • 2009.04.23 22:02: yeah, yeah, i know - resume ? clean house ? no kidding...
  • 2009.04.23 22:04: @craigg75
    grabbing Thai food beforehand
maaan... now i got a hankerin', but all i have is pizza place stuff...
  • 2009.04.23 22:07: had to tie a big bush together in the front- winter ice had pushed it apart in the middle- wish i would have noticed it, less pliable now
  • 2009.04.23 22:09: @craigg75 these "social" apps are exposing some pretty dysfunctional stuff about people - but most won't see it that way
  • 2009.04.23 22:10: hmm - need to create an anti-social network...
  • 2009.04.23 22:11: la dee da - filling time until national news comes on ... twiddle this, twiddle that .. no, not that ...
  • 2009.04.23 22:58: http://bit.ly/PE858 - I want a service like Greenlight
  • 2009.04.23 22:58: wups - that was RT @jdhunt
  • 2009.04.24 01:48: y;know - thinking back to '98-99, dave winer's weblog looked a lot like a twitter stream, links & all.
  • 2009.04.24 01:49: the original weblog concept was just that - a log of one's internet explorations
  • 2009.04.24 01:50: when it evolved into a self-publishing / journaling medium, other services backfilled the original function
  • 2009.04.24 01:51: but this ad-hoc chat / news function / does that reveal a shortcoming in IM and RSS ?
  • 2009.04.24 01:52: kinda makes me think that twitter's claim to fame will be that of exposing needed featuer sets in other ...
  • 2009.04.24 01:53: ... application types. twitter does none well, just passably at best
  • 2009.04.24 01:59: @klaatu
@craigg75 @fractalnavel What twitter's always needed is priority "channel" groupings so work | friends traffic rises above the chatter.
    uh-huh - it's what i've been saying - needs reputation / karma / scoring / whatever - user-specific, at that
  • 2009.04.24 02:00: still - chat / IM can do better, just add a few new features
  • 2009.04.24 02:02: @klaatu
@craigg75 @fractalnavel paged website: Bite sized info to force extra ad pageloads, put da extra ads on page1, se 'em when you scroll.
that's getting pretty close to click- / impression- fraud
  • 2009.04.24 02:11: re channels, etc. - i was envisioning that as a third party service, api can be picked up by client apps
  • 2009.04.24 02:12: can run a good deal of that frlom a client alone, except then your tied to device or the like
