tv fritz fixed with a reset.
weird. turned the tv on this morning, only had vhf, no sounds, no menus... pretty apparent it was the digital gui circuitry that quit, along with some other stuff. things either weren't responding, or had odd dependencies on other functions. at some point it occurred to me that since so much of this stuff is programmable, maybe some sort of reboot was in order. so i unplugged it and plugged it back in. presto. everything's fine.
on the plus side, i discovered that the reason the picture was fuzzy was not the tv, or my eyes - it was the dust.
