semi-random thoughts on a semi-spring day on maryland's eastern shore
everyone is at work or school this morning. well, except for the guinea pigs, the cat and me ;-)
supposed to be 60ish today, will wander around later.
people are home from jamaica - mon ;-) canadian in jamaica: mon, eh ? or is that “eh, mon” ?
return trip tomorrow, probably. it's oyster season, i may bring some home. now, where did i put that oyster knife ?
reading something else by pullman; and making steady but painful headway with that american social insurance book. craig sent along a link to a k5 thread on social security reform; will get to it later when the local pipes are bigger.
speaking of craig, his web log reached a milestone. but honestly, i think your 100th post should say something more than “this is my 100th post” ;-) moldy, indeed. hey, i try to keep after him to post fresh content. i think his intent for that communications vehicle is too constrained. then again, i'm too off the wall. yet “happy medium” is more often “annoying fence-sitter”. we all define our own purpose. i was going to say “which is as it should be”, but honestly, i have my doubts about that...
my sister says she gave money to a church down there in support of their music program. i told her she was an organ donor ... people throw things when you do this.
made some awesome “grilled cheese” sandwiches yesterday. more like grilled cheese, grilled onions, bacon and tomato on mulitgrain bread. then for dinner was fresh grilled salmon and fresh green beans. sigh. it's going to be hard to return to wc and skyline.
introduced my -11?- year old nephew to the old infocom games. you know, interactive fiction, text-adventure, remember, the things without graphics ? some of the best stories / plots / puzzles ever contrived to torture geek minds. so he's attempting to play “trinity” now. i wish him luvk.
speaking of geek, i saw a headline in today's paper: “funds for 404, dover bridge in bill”. now i'm thinking “why do page-not-found errors need funding?”. doh! state route 404 - the bermuda triangle of roads ? ;-) extra points to me on the geek card for taking five minutes to figure out what the headline was intended to mean. meanwhile, i'm staying away from that road.
ok, back to the books, beer and breeze.
