a cheer for the pbs show "now"
current administration policies and programs, and the source of its “political capital” (laughable) get slammed roundly from multiple directions on this week's now [it may take a few days for this permanent archive link to resolve; meanwhile, go to the current week page]. it's nice to see the hypocracies1 and lies pointed out so concisely.
last week, moyers mentioned that he was retiring in december. well deserved, but i would like to hope he would postpone. there is such a shortage of rational voices these days.

1hypocrisy - but i like my spelling better ;-)
my boat is legal
finally got the boat registered - all legal now ! well, it will be when i get the numbers and registration stickers on it. only took me two months. my procrastination is improving. take that however you want ;-)
less than $5 for the numbers; not sure what a replacement registration sticker is. i bring this up since i really need to scrape / sand / polish / wax the entire hull, but i want to get out sailing too, so i may end up going through more than one set of stickers.
beautiful day for a drive too. there's a nice rather direct rural route to the dnr office (at east fork) that avoids all the little towns and lights and business districts using the larger roads. i've always been impressed with ohio river valley countryside, ever since i had my first travel job take me here (portsmouth, actually) in the early 80's. it didn't hurt that it was a sunny late fall day as well. it's too narrow twisty turny up and downy to tow a boat along comfortably, though. i may try it anyway ;)
anyone up for some dinghy sailing ? bring your wet/dry suit !
