Beautiful

Just a short post today. Besides Annette, I've discovered the most beautiful woman in the world. I'm not usually blown away by physical beauty but this woman is absolutely incredible. She gives the news in France, her name is Melissa Theuriau. There's a web site with videos of her giving the news. It doesn't matter what hair style she has, what outfit she has on, whether she is inside the studio or outside, she still is drop dead gorgeous. On top of that, she speaks French..... <drool> Here's some links, see for yourself --

It's not easy being green...

Happy St. Pats day to all. Last weekend Kenzie got to march in the St. Louis downtown St. Patrick's parade. Since she's apart of a Irish dance acedemy she got a free ticket to do it. Mom marched behind her. Some of the family and I waited forever for her to finally walk by. When she did we held up a big sign since it was Kenzie's birthday that day "Happy 10th Birthday! Tugerbutt!". That's her mom's nickname for her. It got a big grin out of Kenzie. Nothing embarrasses that kid.

I remember my college days at Univ Missouri Rolla. St. Patrick is the patron saint of engineering so we didn't have school on Thursday and Friday of that week. Instead we got drunk for 4 days. Lots of fun. It was the one time of year when there were pretty girls on our campus in large numbers instead of some of the troglodites we normally had. Not to disparage the Rolla women but hey, they were much more concerned about their education than they were about their looks. That's ok, we all looked like slobs too. I looked at my photo album from those party days -- I kind of forgot how young I was at one time. I'm sitting on 40, half my life ago I was in college.

Annette and Kenzie went skiing in Utah with Aunt Sheila. They are coming home tonite after 5 days. It was kind of fun to be alone again. I ordered in Chinese food one night and watched Blade Runner (my all time favorite movie). Since it's a film noir movie I turned off all the lights and opened up the porch door and listened to the rain come down. I highly recommend anyone to watch that movie in that way. Awesome. I didn't actually accomplish a lot since I was still kind of recovering from my previous week's illness. Kind of weakend me. I did catch up a lot on my PVR backlog of shows while I was sick though. That was fun. I feel more knowledgable about world events. I wasn't aware of all the crap going to down in Sudan for instance. Wow, amazing that kind of hell is still going on in this century. Jeesh.

This weekend we are having Kenzie's birthday party for the family. It's kind of special in that the whole family gets together. My mom and sister, Annette's mom and dad and their seperate families. It's a lot of people to fit in that house especially now that Annette has her salon. Also Annette and I are going to see the play Rent downtown on Saturday. She wanted to see it the last time it was in town so I got tickets this time. Going to see plays is one of the things we really like to do together. Anyway it looks like a fun musical.

I rebooted

I have been away from this blog for awhile during my move into Annette's house. Finally all moved in, with the majority of my stuff over here now. The data center is all setup, computers are humming away. After the move we ended up with 7 computers total in her house! Although the one with the highest use is the laptop. For so long that thing sat dormant at my condo. It gets major use between Annette and Kenzie. Annette's old Dell barely gets used anymore, just takes us space on her desk now. Kenzie asked me the other day if she could have her own laptop for her birthday. Anyway once I got my bookshelves and tables moved in and hung up some pictures in the data center it really looks nice. It's my cave so to speak.

This weekend Kenzie is have her birthday party which includes a sleep over of her 8 favorite friends. The fun never ends with that child. A quick poem --

Oh to be Kenzie
A favorite star
In a galaxy of admirers
To have and to hold
The very thing that makes us shine

Take that Shakespeare!

I've recently come across a job opportunity that excites me. If you are a regular reader of this blog I have been looking for a job that will inspire me. Sort of like when the girl follows Jerry McGuire, she followed him because his dreams inspired her. I've been told that there is going to be a software job opening at the Botanical Gardens downtown that pays well and will fulfill my need to do something meaningful. The Gardens has been gathering plant data from all over the world for many years and the time has come that they want to share this scientific data with the world. So they are building a web site where this can be done. Sounds exciting to me.

Also today Kenzie is going to perform at her school in a violin concert. I'm kind of excited about that. She's been learning violin for over a year now and has come quite far with it. She's very musical as well as mathematical. I think the two go together, mathematics shows us the harmony that is inherent in numbers as much as songs are to octaves. Alone they stand as abstractions, together they form emergent properties.

Tommorow Annette and I plan to take out the stairs by the kitchen that goes downstairs. That will also require taking down the stairwall. Overall it will widen the kitchen. She found a contractor to fill in the hole in the floor with flooring. He will be here on Monday to do that. The first step in this year's big construction project, redesigning the kitchen.
