Facists are running our schools

Another rant folks. I came across this story via a woman's blog who has an 8 year old son who got suspended from school for changing the pledge of allegiance to me more Star Trek centric. Very cool on the 8 year olds part, very uncool on the Nazi principal who sent the kid home and made him write the correct pledge 50 times. What a crock a shit. What should have been done is the principal should be made to write out “I am educator, I will create an environment that allows children to be creative. I understand that imagination is a powerful tool for a young mind that needs to encouraged. I will no longer indoctrinate my views on to the students of this school and I humbly apologize for my mistake” 50 times and then be forced to wear a tshirt that bears the kid's version of the pledge of allegiance for an entire day.

300+ comments over there, and not one of them negative ? hard to believe. bias works both ways, apparently.

i like that she apparently stood up for the kid, even if that wasn't her first instinct. but to be satisfied with "let him off with a warning" when the suspension and warning are basically illegal in the first place - oh, come on. there needs to be some aclu involvement there, with retractions, apologies and recompense. and not just so that these "nazis" feel angry and resolve to get revenge. they need to be stamped out and destroyed, forced to see the error of their ways or eliminated if not. so this principal deserves a firing, a retraction of credentials, and two weeks in a small room with howard dean.

as for the parent(s) and kid(s) who originally reported the "incident" to the principal, that insidious lot should be made to admit their bigotry in public, and then face the resulting uproar.

mom should publish the school's identifying info so we all can send t-shirts.

and geez, craig, these last two posts - you're sounding almost - _liberal_ ;-)

[a note on styles: i can't distinguish links from text in your posts. it took me a while to find this one, and i only looked because i sort of reasoned that you must have put one in there somewhere. now i have to wonder if there were links in earlier posts that i missed. a bit more contrast would be helpful, please.]

Sorry about the "missing link". I just noticed it with this post and made a note to myself to fix it tonite.

I love the Howard Dean punishment, classic.

Liberal! Banish the thought ;) I just hate goverment and authorities stepping on individuals, it's the libertarian in me I guess.
